Spring Break 2011

Better late than never right?!

Over spring break, in March, Matthew and I went to San Diego with his mom, step-dad, sister and her friend! It was a lot of fun! We did SO many things. The only downer was that it was pretty chilly and RAINED like crazy. All the locals told us they NEVER get rain like that and it would probably be all the rain they got for the YEAR?! Either way, we didn't let it slow us down. We went and toured a Navy air craft carrier. I didn't know this but there is a HUGE Navy base in San Diego. It was really fun and we got to do this stimulator, where you feel like your in a cockpit of a fighter jet and flip and move all over the place. I swear me and Matthew got STUCK upside down. We shopped a lot! That's always fun- haha We also went to the Zoo. It was the BEST zoo I have ever been to! They have all kinds of animals the typical zoo doesn't have, like koalas and penguins and panda bears! My aunt who lives in Los Angeles and her fiance road the train down and spent the night so we could have dinner and catch up. It was awesome to get to spend time with them! (to bad I didn't take any pictures with her!) During the last full day we rented a car and drove up to Mission Beach and Hermosa to see the "famous" Sea Lions. It was so neat to see them in the wild just going about their business. HA!

Here we are on the Navy Aircraft Carrier! It was actually really interesting and fun! Those poor sailors sleep in the TINIEST little spaces- and that is their ONLY personal space for the months and months they are on the ship. I honestly don't think I could make it!

The view from our room- It was beautiful! We had such a nice room also. It was at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Gas Lamp district. It was walking distance to pretty much everything! It was so modern and clean. I LOVED it.

We were walking down the pier on the second day and I just HAD to take a picture of this boat in the bay because it was named after our "baby" Millie Grissom haha! It was to cute!

This is the Giraffe that gave birth. It was so neat! We stopped by this exhibit as the last one, it was hot and we were SO tired, but I am so glad we stopped. We stood there and watched this momma give birth to her baby! SO COOL. This was a few minutes after and the baby had started to move around a little bit.

The pandas! So neat and cuddly looking-They have 4 total that they would rotate in the 2 outdoor spaces. You have to wait in line and go in a single file line to look at them. The pandas are so sensitive and the whole reason they are in the zoo is for breeding purposes so they don't become extinct. The zoo makes it top priority to keep them happy!

This polar bear was so much fun. He kept "posing" for pictures and make the cutest faces. I could have stood there and watched him the whole day. He was such an entertainer!

This is on our way to Hermosa, I think this is at Mission Beach, but I'm not 100% sure. Either way it was SO pretty!

Here are just some of the TONS of sea lions that just lay around and sleep on the rocks in Hermosa. It was really a neat sight- The rocks were completely covered. There were 100's of them. All over the place. They would dive off the rocks and swim around for a while, or go off to the deep ocean. Really cool to see them in their natural environment.

That pretty much sums up our trip! It was SO much fun and I can't wait to blog about the next adventure we go on. They are also so interesting and you never really know what to expect- I LOVE traveling with Matthew, he's a great travel buddy. :)

Surprise!

So, Matthew's 23rd birthday was yesterday (June 17) and he is always surprising me and giving me huge parties! So I decided that this year I was going to surprise him! :) His best friend is working out of state right now, so I figured it would mean a lot to him if kyle could be there. I decided since Kyle was going to be in town, that we wold do it a week early on the 12th! This would also help with the surprise element since he would NOT be expecting it at all- It all went perfectly, and we even got him out there and he seriously was so shocked! Kyle helped me and kept Matthew occupied while I was at the party to greet people and put the finishing touches on the party. I had food, live music, a gigantic blow up slip-n-slide and then the pool. I was SUCH a fun party.

This is RIGHT when he walked in the door! Everyone was standing outside and yelled SURPRISE!!

Since there really wasn't a "theme" to the party, I had a hard time thinking of a cake to do for his party. I went downtown to Lisa's Cake Boutique, (the BEST place in town-try her red velvet. TO. DIE. FOR.) and she had this super cute idea! I had to make the ice, it was just melted down craft beads and I had to bring his favorite beer bottles! I LOVED the way it turned out. It was definitely a hit.

This is me and Kyle. I don't really know how I only ended up with a picture with him but here it is! :) I was so happy he could be here for it. That was the icing on the cake for Matthew.
I don't actually have a picture of the slip-n-slide in the yard, but this one is just like it! It was a blast- I recommend it for parties of all ages! We played on this thing all night long!

Some of the girls that came and my little brother, Chris-

Matthew, Bailey (his little sister) and myself! It was great that the family all came and had fun! It was a great night :)

Some of the pictures are blurry because they were taken with a phone, I was horrible and forgot my real camera! I know Matt's mom took some with her camera and I'll try to get them and upload them soon so they aren't so blurry and give a bigger variety... I know she has some of Darren the musician who was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I would love to show ya'll him and some of the other people who showed up ha! Anyways, I'll try better to update more often on different things. Hope everyone has a GREAT week!

Here we go!

So.. I've decided it's time to start blogging! HA- I have never done anything like this before so it will be an adventure all in itself. I'm not really sure what I will blog about, I love to craft and decorate. I also love to travel and do new things. So surely I will find things that will be interesting :) I'll post some pictures just to introduce myself and family!

This is me and my husband. We dated for 3 years and then got married on May 15th, 2010. Our wedding was everything I had always dreamed about! It was and still is the most special day of my life! I may do a post all about it.. just as a recap!

This is Millie. She is our "baby". Matthew and I got her the June after we started dating. She has seriously been like a kid to us. She is defiantly spoiled rotten. She is now 4 years old! Her birthday is April 20th. (Yes I threw her a 1st birthday party with a homemade cake and all.) We randomly decided to get a dog and loaded up in the car and drove to Searcy to meet her, she peed ALL. OVER. ME. Matthew said that was the deciding factor and he knew she was the dog for us at the point. HA.... After we got married, we decided she needed a friend and had our hearts set on a Caviler King Charles Spaniel.. Well... along came Charlie.

This is Charlie. Bailey (Matthew's little sister) called us one day and said she was at the pound and found the cutest little "chocolate lab puppy". I kept telling her no I could NOT come down there or I would end up taking home a dog but finally gave in. When I walked in, Matthew was already there filling out the paper work to adopt this "lab" puppy. She was so cute, but as you can tell she doesn't really look like a lab. She ended up being a lot older than the pound had guessed and the vet told us that she probably didn't have any lab in her and they weren't really sure what she was. She is around a year old now, and the best guess we can come up with is that she has whippet in her. It's all good.. We still love her.

So- This is my "immediate" family. I'm sure the more I blog the more you'll learn about all my extended family. There is a lot of them! They defiantly keep me and Matthew grounded and support and love us no matter what! Family is SO important to both of us and we do lots of stuff with them.
